Mridanga for beginners

Six consecutive one hour sessions, starting Saturday 6th November

 

Mridanga is an important drum-like instrument in kirtan (mantra music mediation). Are you musically minded and want to learn to play mridanga in kirtan? In this 6 week course we will be teaching you 7 essential beats and techniques so that you can also participate as a musician in any kirtan with confidence! 

 

The course tutor, Birju Jani is a father of four, spiritual practitioner and business man. He has been playing mridanga everyday for 26 years. He was taught traditional mantras and developed his musical skills at a very young age from Vrindavan Gurukul. He has been teaching students how to play mridanga drum for over 10 years. Birju and his wife, Kishori Jani recently became famous on social media following a live kirtan performance with their children during lockdown, attracting 30 million views worldwide.

Time: 10.30am-11.30am

Requirements: minimum age 12+ 

MUST BRING YOUR OWN MRIDANGA (please ask if you want to buy one in Leicester)

Capacity: 10 places only. Demand is expected to be high so please book early to avoid disappointment.
